Antepartum Doula Services: Help! Your doctor said "bedrest" and who's going to watch the kids, walk the
dog, and take care of the meals and the house? Antepartum Doula services are here to get you through
those difficult days or weeks of bedrest or restricted activity. Included in your care is education on pregnancy
health and wellness, and preparation for childbirth or Cesarean; assistance with basic household tasks and child
care; referrals to appropriate agencies for postpartum planning; emotional support and physical comfort measures;
and assistance with self-care.
Postpartum Doula Services (a.k.a. Pampered Mommies Postpartum Care): Give yourself the opportunity
to rest and recover after baby's arrival, and learn ways to make life with baby easier. You'll get tips on breastfeeding
or bottle-feeding; newborn care; how to help siblings and/or pets adjust to the new baby; caring for multiples or special
needs babies; what to expect in the fourth trimester; how to get dad involved with the new baby, and more.
You'll also enjoy having an extra pair of hands around the house for a few hours each day. Postpartum doula services
include light housekeeping (wiping counters, laundry, dishes, sweeping), simple meal preparation, help with care of siblings,
and care of the newborn so the mother can nap or shower.
Birth Doula Services-Your doula will make sure you know what's happening and why during each stage of labor,
and will help you obtain the information you need to make informed choices when necessary. She'll make you as comfortable
as possible through use of positioning, heat and cold, massage and effleurage. She'll be cheering you on and encouraging
you when you want to give up. She'll keep the relatives up to date on what's happening so you and your partner are not
disturbed during labor. She'll help your partner to relax, too, by taking the responsibility for "knowing how to
help you" off his shoulders, and allowing him to give you all his love and attention during contractions. Your
doula will stay with you through labor and delivery, and for one to two hours postpartum to help with breastfeeding if
so desired.
Private Classes- Life is busy, and it's not always easy to find time for a traditional childbirth class.
A childbirth preparation or pregnancy wellness class in your own home can be scheduled at your convenience. In two to
three ninety minute classes you can learn everything you need to be well-prepared for labor and delivery. Classes
are customized to your needs. Please visit the "Classes" page to see the topics available.
Pregnancy Loss Support: For those who have experienced miscarriage or stillbirth.
Express your feelings and come to a place where you can remember your baby without the tears.
