What is a Doula?

Your payment by cash, barter, gift certificate, money order, credit card (via PayPal) is accepted.    All services are first-come, first-serve so be sure to book in advance!

Please note:   A small mileage fee may be added per day for Antepartum or Postpartum Doula services, or Private Childbirth Education outside a twenty mile radius from my home.  The amount of the fee, if it applies to you, is calculated at .40/mile/service day for any miles over twenty.  (For example, if you live 25 miles away, you would only be charged for those extra five miles, or $2/day)

Birth doula services are limited to women birthing at Memorial Hospital in Towanda, Pennsylvania; Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pennsylvania; or Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira, New York.  Home births in these areas are also covered.  Other locations will be considered based on travel distance (additional mileage fees may apply).

Antepartum Doula Services:  for the mommy-to-be on bedrest or restricted activity.  Days (7 a.m.-5 p.m) are $15/hour, Evenings (5 p.m.-11 p.m.) are $18/hour, Overnight or Weekends $20/hour.    A non-refundable deposit of 4 hours payment is due at the signing of the contract and will be applied to the first hour home orientation and to the last three hours of service.

Postpartum Doula Services;  For the first days and weeks after childbirth.  Daytime (7 a.m.-5 p.m.) is $15/hour, Evenings (5 p.m.-11 p.m.) $18/hour, Overnight (11 p.m.-7 a.m.) or weekends is $20/hour.   A non-refundable deposit of 4 hours payment is due at the signing of the contract and covers the first hour home orientation and the last three hours of in-home care.

Birth Doula Support:  This is billed as a package.  The first interview to discuss Doula services, ask questions, and see if you feel we would make a good team is free. My fee includes: one home visit before birth to get to know each other and review your birth plan, discuss my techniques, and answer any questions you may have; on-call 24/7 for your birth from 2 weeks prior to your due date until delivery.  Phone consultations, research, handouts, and samples(when available); constant attendance at your side through labor and birth, and help with breastfeeding and adjustment in the first hour postpartum if desired; one home visit in the first postpartum week to provide education on feeding and newborn care and recovery;  a second postpartum visit at three weeks to review the birth and recovery, and answer questions about postpartum or newborn care, evaluate services and celebrate the birth of your new family.  The fee for a Labor/Birth package is $450.  A $25 discount is available for signing the contract and completing the first visit immediately after the free interview.  A non-refundable deposit of $150 is due at the signing of the contract and covers on-call time, the first home visit, phone consultations, and mileage.   The remainder of the fee is due by the mother's 37th week of pregnancy and covers the birth, postpartum phone consultations, the two postpartum home visits, and mileage.

In-home childbirth education is available at the rate of $20/hour.

Pregnancy Loss Support provided by phone or email is free.

Please feel welcome to contact me in spite of ability to pay.  I do offer reduced-fee services and education to women in need on an on-call basis.  These services are limited to women delivering at Robert Packer Hospital or Memorial Hospital in Towanda.
